Everything

Last night at work was... a bit of a mess. In a good way though. The best way there could possibly be.

I'm failing to get on a consistent sleep pattern. I work nights, Wednesday-Friday and every other Saturday. Naturally, on the nights I work, I sleep until about 4 p.m. before hand. But my days off have me on a more "normal" pattern, meaning I'm awake from twilight am to twilight pm. Because I slept the night before last, I was unable to sleep until I needed to get up and get ready for work. Don't get me wrong, I did get some sleep. About 3 hours worth. Hardly enough to last through a 12 hour work shift.
By the time my first break rolled around at 8:30, I was mentally and physically exhausted. I downed two cups of coffee, along with some aspirin and the "lunch" my mother packed for me. Surprisingly, that did a lot for my stamina, atl least getting me through the embarrassment I was about to face. On the line I work on, there are these big poles the contain the fire extinguisher. These poles have bases that we often use to lean against while we are patiently waiting for the next group of bottles to jam and give us something to do. On these bases, there are really big, thick bolts. One of these bolts decided to go right through my jeans, and try to sodomize me. It wasn't that big of a deal, the hole was fairly small, and high enough to where I could just pull my shirt down over it. Well, when I went to go bump a jam at the B.F.E. (Bum Freaking Egypt) end of the line, someone decided to come place a single flat right where another jam would be waiting for me upon my return. Not being the most coordinated of individuals anyway, I tripped right over this flat. This really did my poor jeans in. *SCHPLIIIIT* Right down the middle, nearly exposing my rear to the entire plant. Thank God (literally) that I was wearing my jacket. I was effectively able to hide my totalled jeans until my next break. I called my mother first thing, and asked her to bring me new jeans asap. She had more than enough sense to bring me the ones that were nearly identical to the ones that were just ruined. No one knew my shame but me!
After that break, I was nearing exhaustion again and ready for the night to be over with because my heels were killing me. As I was grumbling to myself, I realized the words of the song that was stuck in my head.
Every move I make, I make in you
You make me move, Jesus
Every breath I take, I take in you

Every step I take, I take in you
You are my way Jesus
Every breath I take, I breath in you
Waves of Mercy, Waves of Grace
Everywhere I look I see your face
Your love has captured me
Oh my God, this love! How can it be?

Here I was, captured by the love of my God and not evening realizing it! For the rest of the night, I had a little pep in my step... even if I was counting down the minutes until the E.O.S (end of shift)!

Again, on my way home, God illustrated to me just how much I take my blessings for granted with Francesca Battistelli's This Is the Stuff. "I've got a new appreciation, it's not the end of the world." Well, I'll have that appreciation until my next spiritual 2x4.
Thanks God, for knowing exactly what you're doing!
