If you've entered a church in the past ... well, if you have ever entered a church in your life you are bound to have heard about the Apocalypse, about Christ's returning to the Earth, and about the rapture. Within the past few years people have started to predict this time coming closer and closer. Which in truth it is, every day we get closer to this events passing. But something in me can't believe that it's right around the corner. Something in me doesn't believe that we'll see it in my time. This isn't to say I don't believe in it, I just don't believe in it happening right now. My gut, my intuition tells me it's not happening right now.
Yet even as I type this, the world is deteriorating. People are having to live with no water whatsoever, children are forced to kill their parents, the earth is causing more and more ruin through natural disasters, and people feel hopeless and cynical when it comes to humanity.
I just don't feel that it's too late to turn these events around. There are tons of things that can be done if we act quickly enough. There are organizations and projects which give water to people without any when you buy water, start supporting them. There are very active organizations which rescue children from people who would see them walking the streets with weapons murdering innocent bystanders than have them in schools learning how to better themselves, start supporting these organizations. There are Bills being written that would make our country more energy efficient and produce jobs that can't be outsourced to other countries, and that's just in America. I have no idea what other countries are doing to try to bring Global Warming to a halt. Help get these Bills passed here in America, and partake actively in whatever your country is doing to help save our ONE Earth. I believe that if we stop worrying only about ourselves, if we start being active citizens of the world then the feelings of hopelessness and cynicism about fellow man can be eradicated. But here's the catch - WE ALL HAVE TO DO IT.
I think that is the real problem, getting people to start caring about others as much as they care about themselves. When it comes down to it, that COULD happen, but it will happen too late. Because people already believe that all the things I have mentioned are too little too late. It's an impasse, a Catch 22 if you will. And it sucks. In an age where science and reason reign, love and hope and good will towards others falls to the wayside. For all our knowledge, we are the opposite of wise. We are insensitive and senseless. We are superficial and frivolous.
We see the solution, yet take no active steps towards it.
I'm included in this very much. I could be going out of my way to change the world, but I know I just don't have that kind of energy, and I'm not emotionally strong enough to deal with it. So I sit and commentate instead. The world is full of unconsciousness and commentators, but where have all the heroes gone?
I don't think the rapture is here yet either. But hmm you def. inspired me to do some more research on it!
