Self Improvement 101

Recently I have been working pretty hard on multiple things. One is the upcoming wedding of my cousin Heather's wedding. Details are really coming together well. Not to mention, once it is over with, it is going to look great in my professional portfolio if I end up going the wedding planner route. I also have been pouring my heart and soul into a project that I am not at legal liberty to discuss at the moment. I'm trying to work out all the logistics, but I really can not wait for this to really begin, and I can't wait to gorge everyone in the details. It really is the best idea I have ever had, but I want to give credit where it's due. God owns all responsibility for this project, he's the one that gave me the massive idea and I'm working my hardest to try to carry out his will.
In my spare time, I have been working on an updated version of my dream wedding, and also a spread of some of 2010's best wedding gowns. Those will be posted soon, pinky promise.
While working on the updated version of my wedding, I have been coming across some great blogs. In one of those blogs I ran across this thing called 101 in 1001. The gist of it is that you sit and write out one hundred and one things you want to accomplish in one thousand and one days. Sounds simple enough right, well there are a few criteria which each of the one hundred and one things must possess. One is that it must be specific with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. The tasks must also be realistic and stretching, implying that some work must be done on your part. For example, if you work at Old Navy you would not set a goal for yourself to have 100,000 dollars in your bank account at the end of 2.75 years (that's about how long 1001 days is).
Now here is how this equates to this moment in time. Well it is January 4th. You either have your resolutions set, or you are coming up with what you want to accomplish in 2010. STOP what you are doing right now. Do this instead. The idea of 1001 days instead of just one year is that you can give yourself time to accomplish all of your bigger goals. Let's say you have always wanted to travel to Italy and spend a week or two exploring the beautiful countryside and you have decided 2010 is the year you are going to do it. Only problem is a trip like that can be quite taxing to plan, and in a year's time you have not accomplished that goal and so you just give up on it. Well don't you think in 1001 days that you would be able to plan AND take that trip? Yeah, you would.
So I've given myself 10 days to come up with all of my items. I want them to be really worthwhile things that will radically change my mindset, which is why I have given myself just under two weeks to decide. In two weeks I will post some of items, I say some because I'm not sure what I will come up with yet and if I come up with something really personal then I obviously do not want to post it here. I will also post pictures of the book to keep them in.
Oh, I forgot to mention that didn't I? Well, you write all these things down in a book, and come up with some sort of personal system for tracking your progress. Some way of marking each item to let you know whether you have completed it, it's in progress, or you still need to start on it. It's not anything hard, it's just so you will have physical evidence of your aspirations.
So in two weeks... the book and the items up for your perusal.
Good day to everyone.
Sincerly, Alaysia
