Temporary

A friend of mine was surprised to find out that I am still a "temp" at my job. It's true... I've been there since March but I was only hired on as seasonal support. Seasonal in the water companies is a lot different than seasonal in other industries. It starts mid- to end of Spring and lasts through out the mid- end of Autumn. Water supply must be built up for Summer, and then restocked at the end of Summer.
Another that should be added about my job, is that even though I hate it and really can't wait til the end of season, is that I am really, really good at it. I'm the only first season temp that they have training other temps on the machines, if that puts anything in perspective. I caught on to the work really fast, and they haven't put me anywhere near a stick since.
I do have a reputation for breaking things though, because the wildest things seem to happen to the machines I work on. Maintenance knows to expect something good if I call them over. One night the clutch in the wrapping section of the machine had to be completely rebuilt. Another time a chain fell off in the board feed sectiononly for the board feed section to stop working later on that night. I've been the one to constantly have to discover bad lots of film, that just won't cut right in our machines. Through all those things I have learned though. As long as nothing goes too wrong, like a clutch goes out, I can pretty much fix any problem I am having. Probably a really good reason why I am one of the only ones they have training.
I don't completely hate my job. Clearly, I am actually quite proud of being good at it. It just has its nights. I hope that none of those nights happen this week. Ugh... it's my 4 day too.
