Not Your Fault? - Phenom #4

This past Sunday Mr. Obama addressed the oil spill crisis. More specifically he said that he would not be accepting any blame for this disaster and that all the blame was to be placed on BP.

I was in complete and utter shock when I heard this statement from our Commander in Chief.

I strongly beg to differ with you on this Mr. President. Thousands of people so strongly encouraged you not to open up our coasts to new offshore drilling because of the HIGH potential for a disaster like this. I was one of those people. You were warned before deciding with congress to ignore the warnings and proceed with the EXTREMELY dangerous expansion of offshore drilling. This crisis is not only leaving proverbial (and literal, the lives of 11 people were lost the day the oil rig exploded) blood in the hands of BP, but also in the hands of you and our government.

The Gulf Coast oil spill has already eclipsed the Exxon Valdez Spill. In the 12 days since the disaster 13,104,000 gallons of oil have been spilled.
Costs estimated that BP will have to pay are at least $8 Billion before taxes.
Okay well, that's just to clean up the mess. That doesn't include all the revenue that will inevitably be lost in our coastal communities! And that doesn't include the cost this is taking on our already endangered planet!!!

Alternative energy supplies seem much more mainstream, affordable, and realistic now don't they?

Congress and Obama have declared that no new drilling will be permissible along our coast lines... for now. At least until whatever went wrong on this oil rig can be determined. Then what, we wait for the next huge oil disaster? Yeah, that definitely sounds like the answer (note the EXTREME sarcasm in my tone).

So you say that this catastrophe can not be blamed on you Mr. President? Well, with all due respect, that is NOT THE ANSWER. Just as off-shore drilling expansion was NOT THE ANSWER.
Please, take some responsibility for your actions in this tragedy. Start investing more concern for your people's concerns. AND please start taking research on clean energy sources more seriously.
