- cars. more specifically having a car to drive making everything so much easier to do.
- I can not appreciate my mother enough. she is now in Maine. for good. with exception of annual visits and her trip to retrieve Rudy once she is acclimated.
- the month of may, which will be my cool phenomenon posting month.
monday-wednesday was rather lifeless actually. I spent tons of time with my mother at home, that's the long and short of those days. thursday through today has been eventful.
Thursday I went shopping with my mother... all day mostly. She waited until the last minute to get almost everything she needed to have ready for her move ready. And she wonders where I get my procrastination skills from.. I had to go and do her laundry on thrusday night, or rather friday morning. I talked to Rachel the whole time I was there because there was a particularly large, intimidating man there who was staring me down. In short I almost peed myself everytime he glanced my way.
Friday was a stressful day. It was the day that I took my mother to the airport. I didn't cry thankfully, that's the lesson behind emotional preparation kiddies - if you prepare mentally and hold back those tears then you can avoid making a blubbering mess out of yourself in front of a bunch of strangers. Yay emotional prep time!
After dropping her off I trekked back to p-county to run lots of errands. I had returns to make, and shopping to do. Shopping is a band-aide, a very useful band-aide. I needed a new bathing suit top, well actually I really needed new board shorts but I didn't like any of the ones I looked at so I settled for a new bathing suit top. I feel like a bohemian princess in it. I also bought a ring. It's got an art deco band, a four prong ''crown'' setting with a canary yellow rhinestone. I purchased it for seven dollars at K-mart. I went to Walmart absurdly late at night, for no other reason than I needed a new toothbrush and was thinking about getting my hair dye to be a blonde once more. I wasn't ready to lighten the locks -a.k.a I chickened out. I ran into a friends ex-creeper there. He was just as creepy as ever.
Saturday I woke up and proudly donned my new bathing suit top as I went to the beach with my grandmother. It was a very nice day. But super windy. I showered immediately upon arriving home last night, and I am still finding sand in places where sand should never be. While at the beach I went on a long walk, which I have taken to doing every time I visit the shore. I saw a bird, and just as I was saying to myself ''what a pretty bird that is,'' it shot out it's white poop upon the damp sand. Story of my life - I see something beautiful which is immediately marred by the mundane. Why is bird's poop white awyways? It's not as if it makes it any more pleasing. Then I saw a very cute couple. They were cute up until they started jogging together. This isn't South Beach very cute couple, we don't run together like that in p-county.
Then as I continued my lovely stroll along the surf I encountered awkward boy. Here I am minding my own business when all of a sudden a young man is strolling along next to me.
''Hi, I'm a creeper'' should have been his introduction, instead he said ''Hello, my name is Alex. You are Alicia (pronounced ugh-leash-ee-uh).'' This has been the only time I have regretted buying my leather name bracelet from Downtown Disney a couple of weekends ago.
''Actually it's Alaysia, nice try though'' I said as I continued walking.
''Are you from around here.''
''Kind of.''
''That's nice I'm here on vacation.''
''Cool, where are you from?''
''Montana. I live on a dude ranch.''
"Oh my gosh, really?!''
''No. I'm actually from Detroit. The Montana dude ranch story is just more interesting.'' I should have known better from the lack of tan.
''I'm sure Detroit is just as fascinating.''
''Not when you are an investments broker.''
''Oh yeah, that does sound unfortunately boring.''
''It's really not though. I actually kind of love it.''
''Oh I see. That's why you make up a Montana dude ranch story.''
''Haha, you're right. It's boring. I'm just a boring kind of guy.''
''You're a gutsy one though. Walking up to some strange girl on the beach takes some courage.''
''So I get automatic brownie points?''
''Haha, yeah you do.''
''Good. I'd like to cash them in and ask to to come out with me tonight.''
''When and where?''
''How about Shephard's on Clearwater?''
''Okay, I've been meaning to go there the past couple of weekends anyways.''
"Would you like to grab some dinner beforehand?''
''Well I'm actually going out to eat with my grandma tonight.''
''Oh okay. That's sweet. Well can I get your number? So I can call you later.''
''Sure it's XXX-XXX-XXXX (I'm not retarded enough to post my number here silly readers). I'll talk to you later.'' And with that he left. Sounds fairly normal so far right? I could only wish.
I walked back to where my nanny was. I got out my phone and checked the time. I had a text waiting for me too. It was from Alex. ''Hey. This is Alex. Looking forward to tonight. Thanks for giving me a chance.'' That should have been a clue. It wasn't though, I just thought ''oh, how sweet.'' I enjoyed the rest of the time at the beach, even braved the water despite it being sting ray spawning season. I did my sting ray shuffle constantly to remain on the safe side. Then we walked back to the car and got changed for dinner at Crabby Bill's. It was very yummy. After dinner we walked back across the street to view the sunset. It was a breath-taking spectacular of the most vibrant oranges known to ever exist. After it set, I drove us back home and, as previously stated, immediately showered. After getting out of the shower, I had missed a call. It was of course from Alex. ''Hey, sorry I missed you. Call me when get this, can't wait to see you.'' I called him back
''Hey I just got out of the shower. Sorry I missed your call.''
''Oh that's okay. Yeah you needed a shower after today.''
''What?"
''Uhm, that sounded bad. I meant that anyone would have needed a shower after how windy it was at the beach today.''
''Haha, yeah it did sound bad. It was a great shower, even though I still have sand almost everywhere.''
''Yeah me too.''
''Okay, well I've got to get ready. I'll see you in a little while?"
''Yeah. I can't wait. I'll meet you in front of the door. Call me when you get there?''
''Absolutely.'' We hung up. Still normal right? I finished getting ready. To top off my outfit, I put my new blinger on. I drove down to Shephard's, finally found somewhere to park and went to see Alex.
''Hey, you look great Alaysia'' he said upon seeing me.
''Thanks you too. You clean up nice haha.'' (Any hahas stated in this story are representative of actual laughter. No one actually says haha do they?) He then wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed my cheek. That was the first sign of awkwardness to come. I immediately put my guard up. We went inside (he paid my cover at the very least). A group of people walked up to us, they turned out to be his friends. He let his hand slip to my butt while we talked to them. I grabbed it and placed it higher up on my waist again as I pointedly looked at him. Second sign of awkwardness. His friends went to the bar as we went to the dance floor. His grinding continued to get rougher as his hands started to roam more. I'd put his hands in acceptable places when they did and I'd pull away to do one of my signature quirky moves whenever he has being to forceful with his hips. Then he did the big no-no. He pulled my hair and started to kiss my neck as we danced. Then he bit me. Hard. Really, hard.
I turned around and smacked him. Hard. Really, hard. Then stormed off. He followed me out to my car.
''Hey, wait come back. I'm sorry.''
''I'm not that kind of girl Alex. You apparently thought I was, and if that's what you are looking for on this trip, fine. I'm leaving, you go find someone who will put up with you.''
''Please don't leave Alaysia. Let me make it up to you. Go on a walk with me.''
''I'm scared to be alone with you. And I'm going home.'' I got in my car and locked myself in as I started it up. He knocked on my window as I turned my car on. I rolled it down ever so slightly.
''Alaysia, I can't tell you how sorry I am. I understand if I ruined your night. I was a jerk in there. I was trying to impress all my friends. They are all married or have serious partners. It's stressful being out with them without a girlfriend. Please let me make this up to you. Tomorrow, whatever you want to do I'll do it with you. I'll even get you a real ring to wear if you want. Anything.'' Uhm, did he just propose? On the first night.... While insulting my cheap, yet pretty, K-Mart ring. What in the world was wrong with this guy?
''Alex, all I want from you is to be left alone. If you friends stress you out the much maybe you need new ones.'' With that I pulled out and drove home. He's tried calling me. I'm NOT answering. Smart right? I wish that this was a story I made up. It unfortunately is not. Lesson of the story - not every guy you meet on the beach turns out to be the male protagonist from a Nicholas Sparks novel.
Do you think that I acted to extremely? I do kind of feel bad now after re-hashing the drama in my head.
When I got home an old friend texted me. I went over to his house and hung out with him and his roomate. We all watched The Sandlot after catching up for a while. I then drove home and went to bed. I woke up way late today. Since it was raining I decided that redbox would be my best friend for the day. I watched The Lovely Bones and Love Happens. I liked both of them, especially Love Happens. I liked the character of Eloise. I feel that I relate best to slightly (in most cases drastically) quirky characters.
So in summation... What. A. Week.
