Genius.

Ok. So we all know that I like to plan a wedding from time to time. We all know that I'm contemplating pursuing Wedding Coordination as a career someday. We all also know that I am starting to plan my own wedding even though I am NO WHERE near the blessed day.
This idea I am about to explain was born mostly of the last point.
Almost everything I look for I am able to find. I found an amazing alternative to table linens. I'm finding venues that are very within a reasonable budget. I haven't looked into any catering much, but I know I'll have no trouble finding what I want there. Dresses are definitely not within short supply. J Crew offers the exact type of groom attire that I desire. I've been really lucky in all areas except one. I can't find anywhere to RENT the types of tables and chairs that I desire. That's probably what I get for being so weird. But anyways, there is not one place that offers what I want. It's all nasty folding tables that require formal linens. The thought of that literally makes me want to pass out.
So here's my genius scheme. I start my own rental company for weddings and events. I wouldn't only offer rentals though, I would offer event planning services as well. So it'd be a planning and rental company. However I wouldn't have to be your planner for you to rent my furniture and if you wanted me just as your planner you wouldn't have to rent my furniture.
Also. I don't think I would offer just furniture. I could offer all kinds of little odds and ends that would make an event really spectacular. Like vintage china sets. Or cake stands. Or vases. I could have a little bit of everything to offer. Here's the best part of my plan. I wouldn't charge an arm and a leg. I understand that the event planning industry takes a lot of money to sustain itself. But a lot of that is so that the planners can live a fat life. I don't need to live a fat life. I think I've stated that before. I don't want tons of money in life. I just want enough to live a simple happy life and to be able to go and do something really adventurous from time to time. I would plan enough weddings a month to keep the business afloat with a small profit left over so that more could be added to the inventory from time to time.
I have to research it like crazy if it's what I want to do once I come back from Australia. Here's what I'm thinking I'll need. I'll definitely need some sort of building to store it all in, with a separate space for a professional office. I would need to get a small business loan from a bank for sure to purchase the initial furniture and obtain an office space and hire an associate. Unless I win the lotto, my fingers are still crossed for that small hope. I would need at least one large moving type truck to deliver any rented furniture. I don't know. It's kind of just a small blossoming thought at this point. But it's still there. Very much there. It has a feeling of rightness about it. And also a feeling of ''DUH! WHY DIDN'T YOU THINK OF THIS BEFORE?'' It's a substantial thought now instead of just ''I want to be a wedding planner.''
